Injuries Hit Giants

Yesterday and earlier today, the Giants encountered a plethora of injuries in camp.

Starting RG Chris Snee injured his knee on Sunday night and underwent an MRI earlier today.

RB Derick Ward broke the outside bone of his foot when he was walking from room to room (don't ask) and will have surgery soon.

RB Brandon Jacobs experienced an irregular heartbeat and went under plenty of tests. He's being monitored for the time being.

However, Jeremy Shockey returned to practice and participated in light workouts. He came back from a concussion.

Hopefully the team can stay healthy (doesn't look to be) and get everyone healthy by the start of the season.

Re: Injuries Hit Giants

Thats football! There are many injuries and by mid-season you got the backups playing. Who can forget last years eagerly anticipated Eagles-Rams game with the great Jamie Martin vs. Mike McMahon instead of Bulger vs. McNabb? Too many injuries in football but thats the way it is...nothing anyone can do about it.

Cool Re: Injuries Hit Giants

Very true Trashed. That's what happens when you have 22 men who are built like trucks crashing into each other 100 times a game. When you think about it, it's really a sick sport....But I LOVE it.

Re: Injuries Hit Giants

Good, since we always love to hear from ThePundit.

First, I want to congratulate you on your brand-new position as the NYG Mod! I am sure that you will do a great job, Trashed.

My Comments (from a Jets fan):
I would focus on the injury of Brandon Jacobs. I feel that Jacobs has a big career ahead of him since he is already sparked a tad bit of All-Star potential. He doesn't deserve to be suffering from such a horrible condition. I hope this doesn't limit his playing time and they can resolve this probelm.

Re: Injuries Hit Giants

The Arrington injury is looking worse and worse. Thats really bad news for big blue as they were gonna need him for an inside pass rush.

Re: Injuries Hit Giants

then RB issue scares me because tiki isnt a young whipper snapper anymore. He could very easily break down and quickly. Tho he has done everything to disprove the theory about 30+ rb's. But time has to catch up with you sooner or later. Im honestly not a big fan of brandon jacobs, its hard for a guy that big to get so low. Plus didnt eddie georges knees take a huge beating cause he was talller then most, and isnt brandon jacobs taller then george.

The whole RB situation just scares me

That's the thing about Jacobs. He doesn't put his head down. He just runs straight up which makes it harder to get that extra push across the goal line.

Some teaching from Eddie George can fix that though. No one doubts that he has the raw materials to be a great back but his technique sucks. Seeking advice from Eddie G. was a great move. I think Jacobs will be a force this year. Now about Tiki its true that hes over 30 but for the first couple of years he was used as a 3rd down back so he doesnt have that much wear and tear on him. Kind of like the way Marcus Allen was so great with the Chiefs at age 34. Tiki is one of the greats and the offense rests on his mighty shoulders. Now as for injuries I dont worry about Jacobs because my sister had an irregular hearbeat and with proper monitoring hell be fine to run. Its not like he blew out his knee. Speaking of knees though the Snee and Arrington injuries scare the bejesus out of me as a Giants fan. Arrington says hell be fine but doctors arent so sure. Coughlin says Snee will be fine but again team doctors arent so sure. We need big years from Manning, Barber, Pierce, another linebacker is LaVar cant go (Emmons?) and the DEs Osi and Strahan or the Giants will go 5-11

Re: Injuries Hit Giants

What about a big year from Jeremy Shockey and Plaxico Burress, Trashed? You can't forget about your top recievers who help Eli Manning get big years. It is a simple game of cause and effect:Plax+Shock=Manning

Jacobs said in a radio interview last week that he has worked on that part of his game. According to him, it's no longer a problem. We'll see tomorrow I guess.
