Federal investigators have charged a Philadelphia man with trying to blackmail New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin by sending him letters threatening to expose a fictitious sexual tryst with two women.
Herbert Simpson wrote the letters telling the coach to pay up $30,000 or his life would be a living hell.
Simpson said he never thought the coach would get them and he never intended harm but was seeking revenge on the women for work-related issues.
Apparently Simpson has wrote threatening letters before.

So, he wrote the letters, mailed them, and didnt think the coach would get them?????

Not sure if I understand this. Someone clarify it for me.
Does his last name have anything to do with it?
