Justin Tuck Deserved To Be MVP?

The story of this Super Bowl begins and ends with the Giants defense. Facing the highest-scoring offense in NFL history, New York allowed a measly 14 points. The unflappable Tom Brady was flapped: he missed open receivers even when he wasn't pressured, as he started to hear the footsteps of Osi Umenyiora and Michael Strahan even when they weren't there. The Patriots were held to only 274 yards, nearly 140 yards below their season average.

Give the MVP to Justin Tuck (two sacks, six tackles and a forced fumble) the key player of a Giants front seven that won this game. Manning may have played well, but it's the Giants defense's performance we'll be talking about for years to come.

Hmm, well, it's hard to argue with honoring the defense with that performance they had. And Tuck's solo numbers were quite good. But Eli had ~250 yards passing and 2 touchdowns, including the game winner on a drive that saw him take charge and make some great plays with both his arm and his feet. That's the stuff Super Bowl legends are made of. So, yeah, he was the right pick for the MVP, in my book anyway.

This was truly a team effort. Everyone contributed. I could have seen Tyree being named MVP for his TD and silly catch. If possible, I would have made the Giants front four the MVP, but Manning did it when it mattered.

If he took the abuse every season they failed, then he should get the glory as well. Nothing against Tuck, or Tyree, or Boss, or the line or Plaxico...but they have not taken the fall like Manning has had to...let him enjoy is award...he had a hell of a 4th quarter.

That's where I'll agree with ya. That's why he deserved.

Larry Brown and Dexter Jackson. Now tell me they won't give it to a lesser-known player.

Re: Justin Tuck Deserved To Be MVP?

Justin Tuck is hardly a nobody, he was considered the best pass rusher on the Giants defense all-season long by football people.

Eli Manning led the Giants to the game winning TD on their final drive, he deserves the MVP without question.
