Eli Manning Is Getting Too Much Credit

Eli Manning seems to be hailed by many as for sure the savior of the NY Giants and the QB for many years to come

while i agree he has had a great run to the end of this season .... let's adjust our view slightly

let's take his amazing end to the regular season and put it at the beginning .... then let's say he loses the Super Bowl

sound familiar ? ....... that would make Eli the next Rex Grossman ..... not the next Peyton

Re: Eli Manning Is Getting Too Much Credit

I think Simon is exactly right, He is doing the same thing Rex did through the playoffs but getting more credit.

Re: Eli Manning Is Getting Too Much Credit

Theres no way you can compare Rex and Eli, Eli is much better and has proven so. Rex only threw one 3,000 yrd season which was last year. Eli has thrown 3,000+ yrds 3 seasons in a row. He's gotten better each year.

Re: Eli Manning Is Getting Too Much Credit

I don't know about Rex's road to the Super Bowl, but Eli has not turned it over once this January. You can't compare Eli and Rex. The Giants don't look at Eli to not lose the game. They look at him to make some plays and score some TDs.

Can't give the guy enough credit for the job he's done this post-season, leading this team through Dallas AND Green Bay. Hell, he outplayed Favre in his own building.

Re: Eli Manning Is Getting Too Much Credit

There still seems to be that one little dent in Eli's armour. If they win this game and he has a good year next year, and he may well be on his way, THEN I think he will have proven himself.

Actually, that's not true. He hasn't thrown an interception in the playoffs. And he has played one more game. That's a HUGE difference.

I've been on Manning's butt since he got to New York, probably more than anyone on this board. But you have to give him his due in the last few weeks. He's playing mistake-free football. He outplayed Garcia, Romo and Favre in 3 games on the road.

You can't ask for more than that.

Eli hasn't played the Super Bowl yet to this point only had Gossman one pick and that was against New Orleans which the Bears won handley anyway.

Sour grapes...You know it takes a Patriots fan to say that...

Instead of basking in the sunlight of your own glorious QB you have to go find fault in another teams QB...why is that?...why, because you are jealous of the attention the other QB is getting...

lol, trying to stir the pot? Only a moronic Giants fan would have wanted Eli benched (in favor of who? Lorenzen? Wright?). Those same "fans" will be all over Eli if he ever has another 4 INT game during his career.

He's a real leader and you can't ask for much more than that.

is it any coincidence that he has only emerged as a leader since Shockey has been injured ?

will he revert back to his old weak self when Shockey comes back ?

will they deal Shockey to keep the new improved Eli ?

One has nothing to do with the other. In the first game without Shockey (Buffalo), Eli had one of his worst games in the NFL.

Shockey is still one of the top pass catchers in the game. The Giants will welcome him with open arms in the Summer.

Re: Eli Manning Is Getting Too Much Credit

I am interested to see how Eli reacts the first time Shockey gets in his grill about being open, though.
