Let me start by saying that I think Jeremy Shockey is a GREAT tight end. Unfortunately, the Giants' offensive system under Coughlin is not so tight end oriented. That's one reason I feel that Shockey didn't take off once Jim Fassel left. Look at what the Cowboys did with Jason Whitten. There's no reason Shockey can't put up those kind of numbers

Kevin Boss is doing a great job as a fill-in. Maybe it might be best to trade Shockey in the off-season. It would let him pick up his career, and the Giants wouldn't have to worry about him being a distraction, or takings stupid penalties.

I'd be against dealing Shockey. He's still one of the best TEs in the game (pass catching and even blocking) and opposing defenses must account for him whenever he is on the field. I think all the talk of him being a sour influence on the team is overblown. The Giants insist he's been key in the development of Boss and Matthews and nothing but a huge help.
