No to me. You have to win the Super Bowl, or you didn't accomplish the same thing.

i agree totally ..... in the same token i think no one can complain, as some have, that the Pats schedule was easy ..... you can only play what was put infront of you

Their accomplishment is the first team to go 16-0. Simple as that.

Props to the Pats. The Giants fell apart when it mattered most.

Now it's a whole different beast coming up.

I don't recall seeing anyone say the schedule was easy. I could run down the list of complaints folks have had about em, but that wasn't one of em.

Damn, what is wrong with just humbly saying, "one goal down, one more to accomplish!?"

Yep, I agree. Without the Super Bowl, this is just a nice footnote in history.

But if they win the Super Bowl, they surpass the Dolphins (same winning %, more victories), and this becomes the best team ever. Period.

Re: NY Giants vs. New England Patriots

This game reinforced my belief that Harrison, Wilfolk, and the rest of the Patriots are the dirtiest team in the league. The calls against Toomer were absolute phantom jokes, as was the interference calls against Moss in the first half. This game turned when the Pats were stopped in the first quarter at 7-3 when Brady was sacked and they called illegal contact on a Giant. The Patriots just get one chance after another until they score.

Atleast the giants roughed them up and made the starters go the distance. They also gave the rest of the league good ideas on what to do against the Pats. That's what I'm pleased about. I think the Pats are destined to be taken down in the playoffs.

So by those standards you must also feel that the Pistons have no right to claim victories during the Thomas era

The "league" already had a great idea on how to defeat the Pat's. Every game that is played opens up new avenues for defeat. Do you think the Giant's just all of a sudden got great and gave New England a major scare ? Are there any other teams this year, especially in the 2nd half of the season, that have given them a run for their money ??? Anyone can beat the Pat's and it still may happen, but they are going to have to hold them in several areas and no one has YET put that game together. I'm not going to be stupid enough to say no one can do it, but none of them have been 100% successful yet.

It's not neccasarily beatin the Pats in all areas all the time. It's beaten in certain areas and capitolizing on that. I will agree it will take a full 60 minutes.

Most playoff bound teams would have rested their starters, no?

Or is it a case of the players wanting the perfect season?

The Giant's did a great job of shutting down the running game but a well rounded team will come back and beat you in another direction. That's what happened last night. That doesn't say that the Pat's are the best ever team in history but it does say that they have more than one game to fall back on.

My feeling is they wanted to be the first team to win the 16 game regular season. Granted there was nothing other than that in it for them .... unless there are some contractual clauses that add more $$$ to their pockets. The way major league sports throws money around it wouldn't surprise me at all.
