| Re: It's all about Manning He's not great but he's good. No more excuses that "he's young" will fit anymore but Eli was under siege yesterday which of course doesn't help. Accuracy wise, Eli's not the best but I don't think it's an actual problem anymore because he did drop in some gorgeous passes yesterday between defenders. The Giants offensive line stunk, I mean TANK JOHNSON got a sack!!! He's in the top 5 in the NFC but that's it. He's good but not worth all the Giants gave up for him.

Let's give him in the top 10. I'd say 15 but I dont think there are 15 top qb's in the league anymore.

| Re: It's all about Manning Eli is definitely a top 5 QB in the NFC. Romo, Favre, Kitna...Manning is definitely right up there with them. Pitiful second half from an offensive point of the view. They couldn't do anything. Not just Eli's fault either. Oline, run game are to be blamed too. Let's see how the Giants bounce back next week against Detroit. |

| Re: It's all about Manning When you think about it, the whole 1st round of the 2004 draft stinks quarterback-wise. Manning, Rivers, Losman...Roethisberger is the best I suppose but he's great one year and then the next he's not plus he's injury prone. |

| Re: It's all about Manning C'mon Tom, after one game, Eli 'stinks'? He needs to be a hell of a lot more consistant but he plays too well at times to 'stink.' Just remember, the Giants as a franchise are pitiful on games after a bye week. |

| Re: It's all about Manning Well Empire i'll say that Eli is as good as you can get nowadays coming out of college I suppose. I mean I saw Pundit's post a few posts back and how can I argue what he is saying based on a huge game yesterday where Eli played like he was sleeping? I listed all the young duds that populate the NFL now playing quarterback in the Cowboys section of the topic of this game. The talent level of the NFL has simply declined while the injury level at least this year is astronomical. Even the officials are getting hurt!!! The days of Marino, Young, Elway, Aikman, Kelly and Moon are gone. |

| Re: It's all about Manning That's a great question and I wish I had the answer, but I don't. Regardless, you can definitely see that play at the quarterback position is on the decline. Just look at how many sub-100 or sub-200 yard games you get each week now. In the 80s and 90s, that was almost unheard of.

| Re: It's all about Manning If I had to guess a reason it must be something pertaining to the coaching in college football. I read a few articles that because NFL QBs don't call their own plays it has mad them very stiff and robotic as well as not being able to read defenses as well. |

| Let's compare him to Ben Roethlisberger, the guy the Giants could have drafted and not given up all those draft picks. Roethlisberger finds a way to make his team win. He's been under siege plenty but manages to MAKE THE BIG PLAY. That's what winning QB's do. Manning can throw the deep ball but is still very inaccurate. He nearly got Burress killed at the end of the game by throwing behind him. |

| Re: It's all about Manning I honestly think Manning is just like Rivers, Losman, Smith, Young and the rest of the mid-20 year old quarterbacks. He's average just like them. No more "he's learning" or "he's young" either. Eli Manning has been playing for almost 4 years now so unless something drastic happens, this is the QB he is. Frankly I think that he's good and made some really nice throws in the Dallas game. No QB could be under siege as much as Eli was and have a great game unless you were John Elway or Dan Marino and Eli Manning nor any of these young QBs are Elway or Marino by a long shot. |
