Giants Draft Grade

1 DE Mathias Kiwanuka, Boston College -- B...clearly a pick made to strengthen the DLine and quite possibly, the successor to Strahan someday. I like the pick after thinking about it because the depth to our dline is strong now. A good character guy and a great pass rusher.

2 WR Sinorice Moss, University of Miami -- B+...amazing pick by EA. Could've had him in the 1st, traded up to get him in the 2nd. The speedster we need that adds another weapon for Eli Manning. Electric speed and a good route runner. Unlike Tim Carter and Jamaar Taylor...a HEALTHY slot guy. Imagine that lol.

3 LB Gerris Wilkinson, Georgia Tech -- B...adds immediate depth to the LB position. A smart player who has played both outside and inside. A nice athletic player who was a leader on defense. Can play the run and drop back into pass coverage.

4 DT Barry Cofield, Northwestern University -- c+...sounds like a big guy who can be the run stuffer inside. If he can improve his endurance, should see some playing time. At the combine, was one of the best tested DTs.

4 OT Guy Whimper, East Carolina University -- c+...I don't know if he'll make the team but he sure does have a hell of a lot of potential. Played LB, DE and TE in college. Played at OT his senior year, will obviously be a project. A big guy with good feet.

5 S/CB Charlie Peprah, University of Alabama -- C...aggressive DB who needs to improve his tackling. Played safety and corner in college and some say he'll be a corner in the pro's. Has some good cover skills but not that fast (4.56 40).

7 CB Gerrick McPhearson, University of Maryland -- B...I love this pick. Under 6 feet but he's a strong and fast cat. Not very good at picks, but is fast.

Overall, I'd say a B- to a C+. Not great but not bad at all.

Re: Giants Draft Grade

Id give the Jints a C+ with their draft. Their needs were DL, CB, FS and definitely an OL. Stacking the DE position was silly. Coughlin says Justin Tuck may bulk up and play DT in 06 but thats a real stretch for such an obvious need. I just hope Arrington stays healthy
