The 2007 Eli Manning I see Eli Manning this year as a different quarterback than the previous 3 and I think there are a few reasons. His accuracy is getting better slowly but steadily but I think even more important Eli is in control and oozing with confidence. My reasons why Eli is becoming the second coming of the Phil Simms: 1. Tiki Barber gone. It's hard for a young player to develop and gain confidence with a potential HOFer smirking at you and whispering behind your back. That would make anyone feel bad and inhibit progression. With Jacobs/Ward/Droughns I think the Giants added by subtracting in terms of Tiki. The rushing game is thriving and players are now believing in Eli with no egos to get in the way. 2. A man has got to know his limitations. That's a line from Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry film Magnum Force and it applies to Eli. In 2007 Eli is not trying to be Archie or Peyton, he is trying to win games for the G-Men pure and simple. Let Peyton break all the records and be the greatest of all times, Eli has work to do. I don't think Eli will ever be elite like Peyton, he will be a very, very good QB and frankly that's good enough for me and I think enough for him as well. Truthfully I didn't see any elite QBs in the 2004 draft so I think the Giants have themselves a winner and are satisfied. 3. Hard work. Eli is studying tapes and working with the offensive coordinator and QB coach and it is paying dividends. He is calling good audibles at the line and reading defenses much better. In short I don't think Eli will end up in Canton although it certainly could happen but as I said they have themselves a very, very good QB who now finds ways to win. Take a look at the London game. 8 for 22 is not a good day passing by any means but Eli was responsible for the only Big Blue TD because he was creative. Truly he has grown and will continue to grow. Anyone think of any other reasons for Eli's new found command of the offense or perhaps disagree with my assessment of Eli Manning?

| Re: The 2007 Eli Manning No, actually all along I have said that Eli needs to forget about his brother and just concentrate on being the best Eli that he could be. He's not his brother and never will be. Up to now, he has kind of reminded me of milk toast, pretty bland. But it would seem that he is finally stepping up and making his own decisions. I have had some rather rude things to say about Eli in the past. Who knows? Maybe Tiki Barber had a lot to do with his lack of confidence.

Re: The 2007 Eli Manning lol, if he goes out there and has an unimpressive game on Sunday, people will still say he sucks. If he goes out there and throws 5 TDs, people will annoint him the best Manning. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I've probably been tougher on Eli than anybody here. And I have to give him credit. He's played great the last 3 weeks. Why? He hasn't turned the ball over. I don't think you can say he "turned the corner" just yet. Let me see it more consistently and then I'll believe it.

Re: The 2007 Eli Manning Consistency has always been his weakness. But, you know, if he plays badly this week, I wouldnt be ready to diss him for that. This a whole new scenario. He's still a young quarterback. But he will never be as good as his brother.
