NY Giants vs. Green Bay Packers

The New York Giants make their home debut at Giants Stadium this Sunday against the 1-0 Green Bay Packers. Eli Manning may or may not play. Brandon Jacobs won't play. Osi Umenyiora won't play. So it's likely the starting QB and RB for Big Blue will each make their first starts of their NFL careers. That's Jared Lorenzen and Derrick Ward.

The Packers are coming off a big win against the Philly Eagles where Brett Favre tied the record for most wins as a starting QB. He'll look to become the undisputed king of wins against the Giants.

The Giants defense gave up 40+ points against the Cowboys. The Packers only allowed 13 points against the Eagles. Which defense can stop the opposing offense, that's the question.

Re: NY Giants vs. Green Bay Packers

Final injury report for the Giants this week:

Out -- Jacobs, Tyree
Doubtful -- Dockery
Questionable -- Manning, Tynes, Wilkinson, DeOssie (back)
Probable -- Umenyiora, Wilson (quad)

If Umenyiora starts, I'll be surprised. Arthur Staple of Newsday said Eli has looked good in practice. He wouldn't be surprised if Lorenzen starts and Eli acts as a back-up. That way, if Lorenzen is fine, Eli gets a week of rest. If not, Eli can come into the game.

Sounds like a solid plan to me. Best to get Eli the rest if at all possible.

Re: NY Giants vs. Green Bay Packers

With all signs pointing to Osi Umenyiora playing, the key match-up IMO will be the Giants pass rush against the Packers o-line. If they can give Favre some time (like the Cowboys and Romo), then this will be a tough game. If however, the Giants can get a rush on Favre...the Giants should be able to win.

I doubt anyone has confidence in the Packers rushing game right now.

Add to the fact, Eli Manning may start, coming off his best statistical game ever....the Giants could be on an offensive roll. However, perhaps I'm underestimating the Packers defense.

Should be a good game either way.

Re: NY Giants vs. Green Bay Packers

Giants drive down the field but Tynes missed the FG with a bad snap.

This kicking situation has got to improve (the snapper), two bad snaps in two weeks.
