A new book written with the cooperation of former New York Giants general manager Ernie Accorsi reveals that when the Giants took tight end Jeremy Shockey in the first round of the 2002 draft, not everyone within the organization was on board.
Specifically,
the book reveals:
Before the 2002 draft, a team psychologist told Accorsi "You can't draft (Jeremy) Shockey." Undeterred, Accorsi flew to Ada, Okla., met with Shockey, looked into his background, and convinced the Giants to draft him anyway.
