Mike Garafolo of the Star-Ledger reports that defensive back Will Demps is among the players who have been informed by the Giants that they were cut today. Quarterback Tim Hasselbeck was also released.

Per Garafolo, the players who were cut today are Demps, Hasselbeck, K Josh Huston, CB E.J. Underwood, CB Gerrick McPhearson, DT Jonas Seawright, OL Todd Londot, S J.R. Reed, WR Brandon London, DT Tui Alailefaleula, T Jon Dunn, TE Charles Davis, WR Kevin McMahan, DE Marquies Gunn, Justin Jones and C/G Matt Lentz.

Hasselbeck was expected to be cut. I guess Anthony Wright won himself a back-up gig...I recall there was debate as to whether the Giants would only carry two QBs (Eli and Lorenzen) but I guess not.

No doubt, Demps is the biggest name to be cut. Safe to assume the Giants didn't feel comfortable with him in the secondary (sub par play last year and an injury in the pre-season).

I hope they can add that Underwood kid to the practice squad, I've heard a lot of good things about him.
