Ready for some more bad news?

The Houston Texans have matched the Giants' offer sheet for fullback Vonta Leach.

The team made the announcement in a press release this afternoon, in which they also announced they have cut quarterback David Carr and running back Domanick Williams (who used to be Domanick Davis). The Texans had until Monday to match the four-year, $7.2 million offer sheet that Leach had signed with the Giants on Monday, but they decided not to wait.

It’s not clear what this means for incumbent Giants fullback Jim Finn, who would have obviously been the odd-man out in New York if the Texans had declined to match the offer. Obviously the Giants are interested in moving in another direction. However Finn is still under contract through 2009.

So much for that.

No Leach, no Al Wilson... Giants haven't had much luck recently, have they. Isn't Droughns pretty much their only noteworthy pickup of the offseason?

I'm sort of surprised they matched that offer. He's a decent FB, but that is a lot of money.

the pr dept said later yesterday they didnt match the deal that the PR office jumped the gone he is still signed to an offer sheet till mon with the giants, will see if the texans do it, you can tell they want to but can they afford him.

From all accounts the PR people did jump the gun but Houston is intent on keeping him. They like him as a run blocker.

they just seem to have two problems, is he worth the money the giants gave them, and second to they have the cap freedom to do it because from what ive read the giants made it front loaded in the first year, so do the texans have enough money for that, and
