NY signs FB Vonta Leach

According to the Associated Press, "Fullback Vonta Leach signed an offer sheet for a four-year contract with the New York Giants on Monday... The Houston Texans, Leach's current team, have seven days to match the deal, worth more than $7 million. If they don't match, Leach becomes a Giant." Leach is listed as a 6-0, 250-pound blocking back who caught one TD pass last season. Good signing?

Re: NY signs FB Vonta Leach

If Leach does come over, it's pretty much the end for Jim Finn. Finn made a career out of blocking for Tiki and rarely catching a pass.

Leach seems to be a bigger, younger blocker. A backfield of Leace/Jacobs and Droughns sounds like it would be double tough.

Re: NY signs FB Vonta Leach

Talk around the cooler is the Giants will learn whether the Texans match their offer sheet for Leach by tomorrow. The Texans want Leach but may not be able to because of the way the deal is structured (with very reachable incentives).

Plus, you have to wonder if the money they just shelled out for Matt Schaub ($48 Mil over 6 Years) will prohibit them from keeping Leach.
