| Eli Manning contract extension Like it or not, Giants fans, Eli Manning's going to be around for a while. According to Newsday.com, "The Giants exercised a "buy-back" of Manning's contract earlier this month, a move that keeps the fourth-year quarterback under contract through the 2012 season... According to league sources familiar with Manning's contract, the Giants gave him a $5-million buy-back bonus as well as a $3-million roster bonus. His base salary for the 2007 season will be $6.45 million. It increases to $8.45 million in 2008 and $8.95 million in 2009." You guys like this move? I'm guessing no.

| Re: Eli Manning contract extension Believe me Goth, I think Coughlin would much rather have Tony Romo than ol' Eli. This is a horrendous move, if Plaxico Burress didn't have freakishly long arms Eli would have been sitting on the bench right now no matter how much they're paying this bust. I'm firmly convinced now that the NY Giants are a tax write off!!! |

| Re: Eli Manning contract extension The kid has had success the last two years, you guys keep talking like he is the second coming of Ryan Leaf, when actually he is statistically better than the likes of Terry Bradshaw and Roger Staubach at this stage. |

| Re: Eli Manning contract extension I'm guessing everyone's problems with Eli trace back to one thing -- everyone in New York wanted another Peyton and they didn't get him. Instead, they got a decent-to-pretty-good QB who doesn't seem to have a whole lot of poise or leadership ability at the moment. That could change with experience and coaching, though. |

the NFL is now aimed to get the fans of the Now Generation.....the What Have You Done For Me Lately's Leinhart, Young and Cutler all started at some point last season QB's arent being given the same time to develop as they used to

| Re: Eli Manning contract extension Good points, simon... and let's not forget the changes in the college game that have come in recent years. More and more NCAA teams run the pro set every year, whereas the option and the full-house backfield used to be the norm. Translation? These QBs should be somewhat seasoned coming into the NFL... almost like 2-3 year veterans of yesteryear. |

the defenses are getting faster and teams need more blocking take for example when the Pats played in Miami.....an extra back to help block Jason Taylor would have made a huge difference |

Lets see...Bradshaw played in 41 our of his first 42 possible games (how is that for sitting and learning?), hitting 31 tds and 58 ints!...the guy goes on to win 4 Super Bowls...and Romo (a new QB) sat for 3 years before throwing a pass...hmmm...what does the say about your statement?... In an apples to apples comparsion with Bradshaw, Eli is ahead of the curve...he is even ahead of Staubach (which I personally consider a top tier QB)...and he is further along then the fabled John Elway (stats wise)... Instead of making the statement...why not go do some research before jumping on the band wagon?...might do you some good... |

What are earth are you talking about?...the game is about repetition...at this point in time Bradshaw had played the same amount of games and Elway thrown about the same amount of passes...and head to head, Eli's numbers and wins still look impressive... But hey, who needs facts when there is a band wagon to jump on... I will eager await the book you will be writing in 2010...the one you should title, "I was wrong about Eli"... |

| Re: Eli Manning contract extension so full of fire you are......so eager to jump when you dont fully understand learning is not only watching, but also doing and making mistakes......and that is what many of todays QB's are not getting the time to do 31 TDs and 58 INTs eh ?..........you think many of the newer QBs would get away with that today without many people calling for them to be sat or traded ?........not likely hell it amazes me Vick is still staring and Kordell had such a long leash these fans dont take kindly to losing....it gets old fast |
