Giants LB Brandon Short Saw Gun Battle

Just saw this from the NY Daily News and was surprised didn't hear about it anywhere else. Earlier in the week, there was a sad crime in Manhattan. Some nutjob shot and killed a bartender and ran through the streets. Two (unarmed) auxillary officers chased the guy until he turned around and shot and killed both. NYPD officers at the scene shot and killed the criminal.

It just so happens Brandon Short was on the street when the two auxillary officers ran past him. Short said he was in a jewlery shop when he heard the shots, he ran to the back and got on the floor.

Crazy.

That is crazy, and it just goes to show you, you never know what could happen. But this begs the question... does New York still have that good samaritan law? If so, couldn't Short actually get in trouble for this? Stupid question, I know, and not necessarily sports related but something I'm curious about.

Cool Re: Giants LB Brandon Short Saw Gun Battle

One of the auxilary cops that got killed was my softball teammate's brother-in-law. (His wife's brother). I play in an over 35 softball league.
