Dominic Rhodes to Visit Giants; Left Tackle News

Rhodes, an unrestricted free agent running back, will visit with the Giants as soon as today. He's expected to be one of the backs the Giants will target this off-season (other possibilities include trading for Willis McGahee or Thomas Jones, or other free-agents Ahman Green or Musa Smith).

Not the great LT, but the position. It's been reported by newspapers that the decision to cut Pettigout was all Jerry Reese's idea. Coughlin would have preferred he stay. The back-up plan is for David Diehl to start there but they will look to sign a veteran LT in free-agency. Names such as Leonard Davis, Eric Steinbach are available. Reese is said to be high on Guy Whimper, a young LT, drafted a couple of seasons ago (in the mid-rounds if I remember correctly).

Re: Dominic Rhodes to Visit Giants; Left Tackle News

Hmm... I think a tandem of Rhodes and Jacobs would work well together.

Re: Dominic Rhodes to Visit Giants; Left Tackle News

From Big Blue Interactive on Dominic Rhodes:

"Various press reports say unrestricted free agent HB Dominic Rhodes (Indianapolis Colts) arrived at the Meadowlands yesterday to visit with the Giants. If the visit goes well, Rhodes could be signed as early as today. The Star-Ledger and The Daily News are reporting that Rhodes stayed overnight in New Jersey. The Ledger says Rhode's agent did not talk contract with the Giants yesterday but is expected to do so today. The Daily News reports that the Giants are expected to make a big push to sign him before he leaves."

Sounds like he's wanted in New York.

I think the Giants would be better off with McGahee.

Rhodes and Green should have identical seasons.

I don't agree. Mcgahee is not worth the headache and he's averaged under 4 a carry the last couple of years and is injury prone. If Rhodes can be had at the right price, he would be a better fit.

Re: Dominic Rhodes to Visit Giants; Left Tackle News

Rhodes left without being offered a contract last night but the Giants were impressed with the guy.

Another name out there is Tatum Bell who was recently traded to Detroit. It's been reported Jerry Reese likes him and would consider trading for him.
