Arrington to Giants?

Apparently, according to the AP, it's a possibility but a long shot.

Quote:
Linebacker LaVar Arrington, who bought his way out of his contract with Washington for $4.4 million, would like to stay in the NFC East to get back at the Redskins.

But the only team in that division even remotely interested seems to be the New York Giants and "remote" seems to be the operative word. Although Antonio Pierce, Arrington's former teammate in Washington, is reportedly lobbying for him, New York has about $10 million in cap space and would prefer getting several cheaper players than spending a lot on one who might not fit their defensive schemes.
Would an Arrington signing be good or bad for the Big Blue Wrecking Crew?

Re: Arrington to Giants?

If he'd accept a lower bonus, I'd love to have him in NY. There's no denying his ability. As long as he's healthy, he would be a pretty good LBer to have. Put him next to Antonio Pierce (former teammates), they would be awesome together.

Re: Arrington to Giants?

Agreed -- he'd be a good fit in NY. Wonder if there's any realistic shot it'll happen?

Re: Arrington to Giants?

Has anyone heard anything about Arrington in recent weeks? All I've seen is still the same group of teams interested but no biters just yet.

Re: Arrington to Giants?

Nope, nothing but the sound of crickets. Not a lot of demand for Mr. Arrington's services, apparently.

Re: Arrington to Giants?

Looks like he was in New York for a physical today. Arrington's agent and the Giants haven't started talking terms yet, but its looking more and more like he's eventually going to wind up playing for Big Blue.

Yes. They had a short segment on ESPNEWS early this morning.

Re: Arrington to Giants?

As long as nothing serious showed up on the physical, Arrington might just be a Giant afterall. That and him bringing down his price tag a bit.

Re: Arrington to Giants?

I can see this thread is a bit dated. Its coo,l it is baseball season but I cant wait for opposing OGs to try to handle Arrington while their OTs have their hands full with Umeyiora, Strahan and the new DE from the draft!

Re: Arrington to Giants?

Welcome to the boards Trash. I share your same enthusiasm for the Giants defense this upcoming season. You didn't even include Antonio Pierce LOL...who should return to his almost dominating performance on the field. As long as the DTs play above average (Clancy went to Arizona), we should do well.

Antonio Pierce convinced Arrington to sign!!! Thats a help right there. You get a ILB and a talent agent! Big Blue all the way in 2006!!!

Re: Arrington to Giants?

I'm sure the fact that he'll get to play his former team 2x a year didn't hurt matters either.

Re: Arrington to Giants?

I haven't seen that many Antonio Pierce jerseys lately at Giants Stadium! I think maybe this year all Giants fans will be sporting out their Arrington jerseys. I haven't bought mine yet (maybe that's because I'm a Jets fan).
