The Giants have named Kevin Gilbride their offensive coordinator. No surprise, considering he called the plays in the regular season finale. So is this a good move by New York, or should they have sought a candidate from outside the current coaching staff?

I think it's a decent move. It's not as if they could've fired him, hired some offensive guru and start from scratch. With the move, Gilbride has tons of experience in the roll and will be able to fit the system to his liking. Something I assume he couldn't do as simply a QB coach under John Hufnagle in the past two years.

However, the other side of the coin points to him being the QB Coach and the lack of progression in the past season for Eli Manning.

See, this is what I was thinking of. What, the guy did a lousy job coaching up Eli, so now he gets to ruin the whole offense? On the plus side, maybe they can hire a better QB coach, someone who knows the game and can get Eli working up to potential. Maybe they should re-hire Steve DeBerg.
