Did Coughlin save his job?

The Giants lost, but it was a close game and they played hard until the very end. There were a lot of mistakes, but there were a lot of highlight moments as well. So did Tom Coughlin save his job today vs. the Eagles, or will he be fired later on this week?

Re: Did Coughlin save his job?

Right now, it's tough. Here are some factors for and against.

For His Firing:
-Seemingly endless inner turmoil of the team. "Sources" say the team is sick of his tactics
-Penalties/Injuries. Coughlin said he would limit both, both have risen.
-Lack of offensive production. He's a good offensive coach but they still have trouble.
-Eli's poor progression.

Against Firing:
-Two young owners, may not want to change both GM and Coach in same season
-Led Giants to back to back playoff births
-Corrected Tiki's fumbling problem and Tiki had his best years under Coughlin
-Who are you going to hire?
-Team seemingly never quit, played hard until the final play
-Let's see what he can do with a different staff (ie..get rid of Tim Lewis, defensive coordinator).

I know most Giants fans want a new coach. But realistically, I don't think the Giants will let him go.

Re: Did Coughlin save his job?

2 decent games in a row doesn't erase the fact that his team hates him and does not listen to him and that they swan dived into the playoffs and made a quick exit. He gets fired by the end of January. I'd put money on it. The owners being young to me only makes it more dooming for Coughlin because they'll want to put their stamp on this team on firing this loser is a great start.

Re: Did Coughlin save his job?

Think of it this way, if Tom Coughlin is fired, then Bill Parcells willl pick him up as assistant head coach and maybe the heir apparent to take over as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.
