He has Barber, Shockey, Burress, and Toomer with a great O line blocking him. Even the afformentioned Leaf could throw that many TDs with that cast! I noticed that nobody mentioned that he's actually regressing, getting worse and less accurate as time goes on. But you did hit upon another bad news delivery for Eli Gotham DK and that is next year no Tiki so there will MORE pressure on Eli and this time not just avoiding mistakes but to lead his team to victories. And we all know how well Eli responds to pressure. Everytime he throws an INT or misses an open reciever (which is a lot) he looks like he needs a hug from his coach or he'll start crying. Next year Eli becomes Heath Shuler I assure you.

Nuke what kind of football are you watching there buddy?...Eli increase his completion rate from 52% to 57.7% which is not bad for a third year guy...how is that going backwards?...As for Leaf...Leaf could have played for the next decaded in the Arena football league and not netted that many touchdowns...

I mean to be a Jet fan does not mean you have to look at the Giants and have a myopic view of Eli's future...I'd take my chances with him over the brittle Chad Pennigton (and I am a Cowboy fan)...

Here in NYC...everyone knows that Chad has the heart of a champion and Eli has the heart of a kitten. Eli is a loser pure and simple. The results speak for themselves and next year it's gonna be a lot harder for Mr. Miss The Reciever. Chad on the other hand played his first full season, got comeback player of the year and was the inspiration of the Jets leading them to a playoff berth from a 4-12 season a year ago. You can quote whatever numbers that make Eli look like he's improving but here in New York he's a loser and 2007 will cement that fact.

I wouldn't beat the house on Brittle Chad...the guy came in with Brady in 2000, so to say, he just played his first full year...oooouch!....I'd take my chances with the more robust Manning...but hey, Jets fans can keep dreaming...

Hmm...the Jets got knocked out of the first round by their division rival just like the Giants did. Sure Chad is good and has a great heart but he's not head and shoulders above Eli. As a leader in the locker room, he sure is, but not on the field.

So you're comparing Chad being the heart and soul of a 4-12 team and taking them to 10-6 and a playoff berth where they lose to a dynasty to Off The Mark Eli??? Now that's just not being rational but then again we did have have Eli vs. Elway comparisons earlier. Didn't Eli Manning have one of the best runningbacks in the NFL to keep pressure off him while Chad had the dreadful Kevin Barlow? Truth be told, all this Eli supporting more sounds like "devil's advocate" more than solid reasoning if any reasoning all do respect. Hardly any of the points I made in this thread have been even slightly refuted and this just seems like a bunch of wishful thinking vs. solid facts and sports knowledge. Frankly i'm very disappointed in the posts in this thread. I expected a lot better on an all sports forum.

Simply put, Pennington hasn't won anything. Manning hasn't either. Eli has won a division title, has Chad? Chad is a natural on-field leader. Eli does his own thing.

Right now, if you had to pick one to lead your offense I could understand picking Chad. However, you won't lose too much if you have Eli.

You need a warrior to lead an offense in the NFL. Always been that way. I can say proudly that Chad is a warrior can you say the same about Eli? If Chad had the 2005 Giants team and schedule you bet he'd win a division title! And I would not my QB "doing his own thing."

I'm sorry but this quote still brings a smile to my face when I read it. I actually printed it and hung it the inside of my computer cabinet. "The robust Manning!" That's too much!!!

Yep, no use hanging a picture of the crippled Chad Pennigton to idol worship...I know that you will cast longing looks at the quote and mutter to yourself..."If only Chad was as robust as Eli...***sigh**"...but its okay...we understand...

As for how did you put it..."I made in this thread have been even slightly refuted and this just seems like a bunch of wishful thinking vs. solid facts and sports knowledge"...

Earth to Nuke, come back to reality...we proved that Manning has improved his accuracy from 52% to 57%, though you said it has gone in the other direction...we have proved that at this stage of his young career he is leaps and bounds ahead of people like like Terry Bradshaw...we didn't even have to prove that if Ryan Leaf were to live 4 more lifetimes he still couldn't throw 1/2 as many TDs, since the possiblity of Ryan Leaf ever throwing a TD is about as good as Chad not getting hurt again...We have show that in the playoffs both Chad and Eli got bounced in the first round...which negagates the fact that one had a much more fabulous season then the other...I mean we could go on and on...

But hey if your idea of Sports reality is to idol worship a crippled quarterback...who are we to get in the way of that particular fantasy...dream on my good man...

Re: The Eli Manning Quandry

HEY!!! What's up man??? If I dream of Chad I fear it will not as ROBUST a dream as of Eli! I'm sorry I couldn't resist! Can you say more stuff like that please? I mean the last post was good but it lacked that pizzazz! The comparison to a hall of famer was pretty good though as well as the gushing over Eli's completion rating going from abominable to crappy as a substainstal improvement.

Re: The Eli Manning Quandry

A point of logic though (something that got way lost on this thread), Chad didn't look that crippled when he was sacked on his twice repaired shoulder only to get up like a champion and start pumping his arms to the crowd inspiring them and his team to victory. I been watching Gang Green a long time and can honestly say that was one of the great moments in their history. That kind of spirit and will to win. That was showing the crowd and the Jets "See I can take it!" Hey if that's crippled then that's someone who deals with his disabilty REALLY freakin' well!

See that's just it...ROBUST has pizzazz to a Jets fan, cause they don't know the word when it comes to a QB...images of Joe Namath's knee pops into thier heads right away...and that was long before Chad...so yeah it would have a bit of a zingy new feel to it to a Jets fan...

But why stop at the HOF comparision?...lets talk TD to interception ratio this season Chad was 17:16 and Eli 24:18....huh?...lets go back...you mean that "Chad the Beloved" through just one more TD than Int?...while Eli had 6 more?...imagine that?...we couldn't get that from reading the Jets take on this thread...and while Eli has had back to back 24 TD seasons, Chad has only cracked 20 Tds once (22) in twice as many years?...Huh?...how did that get lost in the thread?...oh my?!?...

But he had Tiki Barber (cry Jets fan!...not fair!)...okay, well should be rip Troy Aikman of his lofty status cause he had Emmitt Smith?...Elway cause he had Terrell Davis...Griese for Csonka?...where is the logic in that?...and has not Chad enjoyed a good number of seasons with a future HOF named Curtis Martin?...hmmm...

As for the definition of cripple...lets see...23 missed games over a 5 year period ought to cover it...23 games!...wow...no wonder the word Robust is not in the Jets vocab...but here's to learning a new word today...

Re: The Eli Manning Quandry

As I said logic has gone way out the window so let's look at something positive...I feel very robust after reading that post!
