Giants vs. Washington Redskins

Long story short -- the New York Giants make the playoffs if they beat the Washington Redskins on Saturday.

The long version, according to Yahoo! Sports: "Win the tiebreaker for the final wild-card spot based on a better strength of victory (45-5 than the Packers (33-71). Giants and Packers have better conference record (6-5) than Panthers (5-6), Rams (5-6) and Falcons (5-6). Would clinch No. 6 seed with win Saturday at Redskins."

So can the Giants win? Do they wind up, somehow, making the playoffs?

Re: Giants vs. Washington Redskins

This is just silly. If the Giants lose, they could be the FIRST EVER 7-9 (below .500) team to make the NFL Playoffs.

It's a weird factor now for Giants fans who are just frustrated with the team and frankly don't care if they do or don't make the playoffs. But from last week's games, it seems the Red Skins are ready to play. Will the Giants be? Only they know.

Re: Giants vs. Washington Redskins

There is no reason to think they could win this game based on their last two months of play. If they do, they will have made the playoffs going 2-6 in their last eight games, which mkaes the NFL almost laughable for the quality of the product now out on the field. Hopefully they lose and Eli Manning decides to retire out of the blue and become a monk or something. I hope I never see Strahan on the field again, as he is possibly the most over-rated player in their history.

Re: Giants vs. Washington Redskins

Yep Mervin, just heard about it this morning. Coughlin has given the offensive playcalling job to QB coach Kevin Gilbride.

Wonder how different the gameplan will be now.

How much can it change in three days? I mean, its not like they can completely overhaul the offensive gameplan on a Wednesday in preparation for a Saturday night game. Maybe a few things will change here or there, but I really can't forsee this having a huge impact on the game.

Re: Giants vs. Washington Redskins

when you play agame of chess everyone is givin the same pieces its just a matter of when you choose to use each piece. Gilbride has the same chess board as hufnagel its just a matter of better play calling at the right time for noe

News today that Jeremy Shockey is questionable for Saturday's game with an ankle problem.

I agree with everything legend said except the Strahan comment. I can't imagine a 7-9 team in postseason play. What if some divine miracle happens and they win the SuperBowl? Now remember I said divine miracle has to happen! Legend is right about a sub-500 team vying for the SuperBowl. They should be vying for a top 10 draft pick in april!

Cool Re: Giants vs. Washington Redskins

1) If Manning doesn't start hitting his receivers once in a while, it doesn't matter who the offensive corordinator is.

2) Coughlin should have called the plays himself. If it was my job on the line, I would.

3) The whole NFC is a joke. The fact that Green Baty has a chance tells you all you need to know.

Re: Giants vs. Washington Redskins

It's official, Shockey is out for Saturday's game. That much tougher for the offense to get some momentum.

Re: Giants vs. Washington Redskins

Eli Manning has played terribly in the 2nd half. Meanwhile, Tiki Barber is having one of his best games ever. Over 220 yards rushing (new franchise record) and 3 TDs.

Giants lead by 13 points with just about 5 minutes left in the 4th.

Re: Giants vs. Washington Redskins

Man Eli Manning has no poise in the pocket, is afraid to get hit, has horrible mechanics (he never steps into a throw, always throws going backwards!) and his lack of accuracy is known throughout the sports world. Theres too much wrong with him for Eli ever to be good. I say he's a bust right now. I can't see him miraculously getting better. It's been 2 and a half years now and if anything he's regressing each year!!!

Re: Giants vs. Washington Redskins

Luckily for the Giants, Barber played one of his best games ever. Talk about single-handedly winning a football game.
