Shockey's comments get noticed in Dallas

Jeremy Shockey's candor may have given the Dallas Cowboys some extra incentive for Sunday's NFC East showdown with the New York Giants.

After the Giants' Week 11 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars -- the second loss in what is now a three-game slide, puncuated by last Sunday's meltdown against the Tennessee Titans -- Shockey told ESPN's Ed Werder there was "no way in hell" the Cowboys would beat the Giants if the Giants played up to par.

And while Bill Parcells has downplayed the statement, it's certainly made news in Dallas, where Parcells has told the media he's "aware of it." The New York Daily News reported Wednesday that according to a Dallas source, the Cowboys have acquired a copy of Shockey's comments.

The sad thing is he's right, the Giants could beat Dallas "if they were playing up to par"...

To bad Scockey's mouth just wrote a check that his team can't cash. There is too much wrong, on and off the field, for the Giant's to pull it together for this one.

I don't see anything wrong with it as VaTechNut said...if the Giants could play up to par, they should win.

Watch the media go and twist Shockey's words to say something like the Cowboys have not a shot in hell of winning period. It's not what he said, but the media won't care.

wait you guys have problems with someone on this team showing life are you insane, this team is a playing like there dead. Your right nothing brilliant or einstein like ever comes out of this guys mouth. but the point is if they lose everything is on them he knows that. Ive said it over and over he is a spark plug that fuels the giants energy espically with strahan being out. These are comments the giants need. The only bad statment he has ever made is calling the tuna a queer. Im sure if eli can remember how to throw his way the giants can win. this team needs to put up or shut up, the problem is were going to have to watch eli play for years . Now that people are getting on eli's back he just digs his grave deeper each day. they say he is always calm and can deal with pressure but he sure hasnt proved that.

No matter what Shockey says the Cowboys are far better than the Giants at this point in time and Giants stadium will be loaded with Cowboy fans who bought tickets from season holders who have given up on the Eli Mannings of the world!!

Gee, thought the Gaints have been playing up to par...you guys have been down on Eli all year...so throwing a game losing interception would seem "par for the course" right?

OUCH, that stings. I'll just rub a little dirt in it and walk it off.

As far as Eli and up to par...no, no and no. He (and the majority of the Giants) aren't playing up to par. If your QB was turning substandard performances on a consistant bases, wouldn't you start to consider a plan "B"? I often wonder if he is in over his head, and I bet he has wondered the same thing.
