Do You Want to Fire Tom Coughlin?

For the last week through all the inner turmoil of the Giants, the background talk revolved around Tom Coughlin and his job security. He's in the third year of a four year contract and most everyone believes this is the year we'll find out whether or not he stays or goes. Because a coach with a one-year deal is a lame-duck coach.

It may be a bit early since the Giants are still 6-5 and if the playoffs were right now, they'd be the 5th seed in the NFC (1st wild card team).

So looking into your own crystal ball, whether the Giants make the playoffs or completely waste it and don't....do you want to fire Tom Coughlin?

I'm certain the talk will heat up in the New York media this week and will continue as long as the Giants losing streak does.

Cool Re: Do You Want to Fire Tom Coughlin?

I'm not the biggest Coughlin fan and it's eveident that the players can't stand him because they throw him under the bus every chance they get but what I think the Giants really need is a new QB.

Re: Do You Want to Fire Tom Coughlin?

You guys said Coughlin should stay cuz he taught Tiki not to fumble. He could have taught Tiki to fly and it still doesnt justify this dysfunctional family. He's clueless, his players hate him and more importantly they don't believe in him and don't buy what he's saying! So you have one of two choices...fire Tom Coughlin or all the players. The decision is yours. Oh and if you think Eli is still gonna be a great quarterback please give me the cell number of your dealer! I could use some good stuff. Every time it was time for him to step up and throw an easy dump off pass, he was short. I could throw a dump off pass! My mother could! YOUR mother could!! Eli sucks!!! I said this a while ago boys. Let's face it 29 times out of 30 Trashed is always right. Now lets hear what you guys want to do and have no illusions you have 1 or 2 choices:
1. Fire Coughlin
2. Fire the Giants players
So let's hear some ideas here!

Re: Do You Want to Fire Tom Coughlin?

If the Giants don't make the palyoffs, Coughlin will go. Unfortunately, thje Giants seem to be stuck with Unr-eli-able Manning, and anyone who was in on that deal should also be shown the door. The Giants need to show some heart, something that Placid Burress has none of. This is not over by any means, but the window on a solution is closing rapidly. the Cowboys are not as good as they have looked lately, and if the Giants can beat them, they can save their season.

Yeah but Leg, even in the weak NFC they may make the postseason but I can't see this team winning a playoff game with Eli.

Re: Do You Want to Fire Tom Coughlin?

i cant think of a reason to keep this guy, it seems to me no one plays hard for him. People in the media say they back him, but thats how you deal with the media you keep problems as small as you can, you dont come out and say this guy blows, he needs to go cause then it puts a huge spotlight on the problem. As far as plex, id rather have a crap wr that never gives up

Re: Do You Want to Fire Tom Coughlin?

Coughlin is the wrong fit for this team. This is a largely veteran team with big egos, while Coughlin is a disciplinarian whose style seems to better with a younger squad. He's kind of like football's Buck Showalter, isn't he? Anyway, I think the bigger problem than the coach is the personnel decisions. Never been high on Shockey, didn't like the Burress signing and regarless of what we all thought of Eli at the time, the fact is they gave up too many picks to get him.

Re: NY Giants vs. New Orleans Saints

Hello! I'm new member in goteamsgo forums. I have a created Petition for Firing of Tom Coughlin and Rest of Giants staff. As a Giants Fan I had enough of Tom Coughlin.. This Giants defense is overrated and undisciplined.. The whole offensive line is awful and defense is horrendous.

Re: NY Giants vs. New Orleans Saints

Welcome to GTG GiantsForever. This team has been such a dissapointment this year, it's unbelieveable. A time when they should play with some fire in their bellies, against a top NFC team, with Tiki in his final home game, with Strahan back...they feed us a stinker.

I think I've turned the tide and think Coughlin should be fired. It's a rough situation for all involved since Accorsi is leaving but it doesn't look like they're motivated.

Sounds about right! Ya have to fire Coughlin simply because this Giants team is not listening to him. They don't believe or care what he says. Today vs. the Saints was a perfect example, it was a must win and the Giants came out flatter than a pancake. See what I mean? Coughlin might be good on another team but this group of Shockeys, Barbers and Strahans just tune him out and you can't fire the players so Coughlin gets the ax. As for Eli, you spent a ton in draft picks and money on the guy so get him an offensive scheme that fits him, a good QB coach and let him have a go at it. He looks very good in the no-huddle so maybe the Giants should consider an offense that would have that type of setting to let Eli blossom if he is gonna blossom. His accuracy needs to be worked on and only Eli can do that with practice, watching game tapes and tutoring from that QB coach I said he needs.

Angry Re: Do You Want to Fire Tom Coughlin?

ya, that may be ture ,but its been almost THREE years on 1 not 2 this is his third year..and he is getting worse....not better.....a new coach may help...may...but look at the rookie qb's this year....he's not even in their class...look at his ratings...did you watch today....his accuracy is bad... that pass to Burress really was not that great.......get rid of him now..when the team still may have some coheasion left for the next year......

Re: Do You Want to Fire Tom Coughlin?

Although Manning has had a down year, realistically, he isn't going anywhere.

One thing I wish he would do is not sulk like an eight year old when something doesn't go his way. It's alright to get mad but don't sulk, it just gives off bad signals.

I agree. Manning sulks everytime something doesn't go his way and it could be in the first quarter. Maybe it's all his recievers yelling at him when he constantly under and overthrows them! Another thing EmpireWF has right is that (maybe unfortunately for Giant fans) Eli is not going anywhere. He'll be missing recievers for years to come.

Re: Do You Want to Fire Tom Coughlin?

The problem with this team isnt Coughlin it is Eli. Hes just not that good, I dont want to here it anymore. A pedrigree says nothing to me, especially after his paltry performance against the Saints. THe guy has to be able to take over the team at some point. 74 yards passing in the GIants most critical game of the season isnt ever going to do it.
