Re: Man Oh Manning!

I believe there was once a rule that a rookie needs 3-5 years to mature and achieve their potential.

Hold on there, Trashed.

Yes but he needs some potential to achieve Marc!!! He panics, his arm strength is average, his throwing mechanics are terrible, his decision making horrendous and his accuracy is possibly the worst of any quarterback who has had a decent team under him.

Re: Man Oh Manning!

This is an Eli Manning-bashing party, isn't it?

Eli Manning will never live up to the records and achievements that his brother, Peyton, has set.

Cmon Marc no one expects him to. The point is Eli Manning will never even be good! He'll be average at a best possible case scenario. The reason everyone is comparing him to Rivers aside from the trade is Rivers is progressing while Eli after 2 years still looks like a college quarterback. He has learned very little and he has no intangibles. Eli is a bust unfortunately for the Giants. Accorsi made a huge mistake. Imagine Rivers and Merriman on big blue.

You said before he has no arm strength. HUh? He throws one of the best deep balls in the NFL.

As far as intangibles go, I seem to think he has some. How else did he lead the Giants to numerous victories late in games over his young career?

Neither of us are in practice every day watching him take reps so I wouldn't say he's not learning anything. Again, saying he's a bust before he plays his third full season is silly.

Re: Man Oh Manning!

His arm strength is average. This is Eli not Peyton. He constantly underthrows the deep route which results in many of his interceptions. He has led the Giants to victories by Tiki Barber's running and Plaxico Burress having freakishly long arms and jumping ability. Eli's a bust. He aint gonna get better. You'll be lucky if this pisshead shows the ability of Joey Harrington.

Re: Man Oh Manning!

i feel he is a bust but with that said this guy has had alot of pressure coming in being the son of archie and the brother to the horse with no name(why the long face peyton). He has had alot of pressure, but this guy has to show he can play smart football for four quarters if he does this ill stop the eli bashing. But how many times have u seen plex give up on the route cause he has to come back to the ball. Yes he did have alot of dropped passes. I also think this offense has no fun lol, no trickery no nothing. What happened to putting mike jennings in their for the occasional reverse its all boring predictable offense

Re: Man Oh Manning!

Every offense has recievers dropping passes. You think this is a malady exclusive to the Giants? Nope the Patriots, Colts, Raiders, Vikings, Niners all have recievers that drop passes. The problem is that when you have a quarterback who constantly misses wide open recievers and throws the ball into triple coverage it's a recepie for disaster. I understand if Eli has a missed throw sometimes but it's usually about 1 of 3 passes that the guy misses. Perhaps he's not in an offense suited to his abilities? I don't know but I do know that right now he's one notch above Akili Smith and one notch below Joey Harrington. Eli is a bust and you all know it! Bust! Bust! Bust! Bust! Bust!

Re: Man Oh Manning!

Phillip Rivers is having a great year, but he is also playing on a great team.

The New York Giants are under pressure because Tiki Barber is racing out the door and Jeremy Shockey is mouthing off, as usual. Eli Manning, as a youngster, is being caught up in this nonsense while Phillip Rivers is having an easy time lobbing the ball to his wide-outs downfield.

It may be too early to call, but we can decide in a few years.

You may question his accuracy but his arm strength is great. He's able to throw the deep ball with the best of 'em.

Take a closer look next time he plays and you'll see my point.

I've watched every NFL game he's played in. If you're talking about the wobbly balls he throws, that can be a problem. He doesn't throw the tight spirals you'd probably want. However, when he goes deep (40-60 yards), there's no problem there.

Safe for his first few starts in the NFL, it's been pleasant. Remember, he did lead them to a Division title a year ago. Granted he fell towards the latter portion of the year but they should've beaten the Steelers in that game in the regular season.
