NY Giants vs. Washington Redskins

The NFC East picks up again in Week 5 as the Washington Redskins will come to New Jersey and take on division rival, New York Giants. The Giants are coming off a bye week and previous to that, a dreadful week against the Seahawks. Meanwhile, the Redskins are coming off a HUGE overtime victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Clinton Portis, Mark Brunell and Santana Moss all are riding some hot streaks into Giants Stadium. Can the Giants come back and play some defense? Can Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora have some sort of pass rush? The Giants will also need a steady dose of Tiki Barber and Brandon Jacobs for a run game. A Giants win and they're right back in the thick of things in the division. Do you think they can muster up the gusto?

You can use this thread to also make your official predictions (exact score and winner) for the BIG GTG $300 Ticket Contest. Does anyone give the Giants a chance?

Re: NY Giants vs. Washington Redskins

The run must come first and they must stay with it. Almost as important than an Xs and Os game plan is the Giant's damaged psyche at this point. That Seahawk loss was the worst in recent history and they've had two weeks to think about it. This team cannot get rattled or quit if things get a little rough with the 'Skins. Most important is Moss. The corners and safeties have to cover well and hit hard or forget it. Also Brunell must be harrassed so pressure is key because we saw last week what happens when he gets comfortable and in rhythm.

Great game so far. Why do I have a feeling Jay Feely's missed 47-yarder will come back to haunt us?

Tiki Barber is having a great day. Our defense can't stop them on third downs, nothing out of the ordinary.

Defense is a problem on 3rd downs but overall it's far improved. No major penalites so far on Big Blue which is another improvement. Big pass play to the most underrated WR in the league Amani Toomer. Even Burress is contributing and Eli looks good. Most of all the run is coming first and it's paying dividends in terms of setting up the pass and overall. Whoops! Touchdown pass reversed because of Shockey holding...all mouth and no play I guess. I wonder if Shockey's boneheaded penalty is a result of being "outcoached?" My god im defending Tom Coughlin!!!

If you're in Mass, you probably have the Patriots game on CBS. I don't know if they show New York games up and down the east coast.

Re: NY Giants vs. Washington Redskins

Mmmmm! Trashed like chics! Seriously though great win by the Giants. Eli played a perfect game. Tiki did what I said he had to do but most importantly the defense was a completely different one than we saw in the first 3 weeks. See? When I mericilessly beat on the Giants and whip them like rabid dogs they win. When I start to ease up on them and give them credit they lose. That's why I do what I do ladies and germs! I hate the Giants so that they win. Weird I know but it works! I slandered the Giants for 2 straight weeks and they play a great game. It's the power of the Dark Side my friends. Oh and remember the big knock on Eli Mannning was his completion pctg? Well guess who's leading the NFC with a 67% completion ratio? After today's game it's probably higher. My hate drives the Giants to win. The Sith Lord achieves victory.

Re: NY Giants vs. Washington Redskins

Let me preface this by saying I didn't see any of the second half of the game. However, judging by the stats, our defense came to PLAY today. Holding the 'Skins offense to just 164 total yards is amazing (78 rushing, 86 passing).

Eli Manning had a great day, completing about 70% of his passes. Of course the two big ones in the first quarter and a half to Toomer and Plax were huge.

Tiki had another classic game against the Redskins with 123 rushing yards on 23 touches. Brandon Jacobs rushed 9 times for 26 yards to boot.

Shockey only had a single catch. Antonio Pierce was fierce while Arrington didn't have much to say with his play (again, only going by stats).

A great MUST win for the Giants as they increase their division record to 2-0.
