Eli Manning shines in Over-time

Okay, so this should slow down the Eli Manning bashing I have seen on this site...Eli passed for 373 yards 3 TDs and and took his team to an over-time victory over the Eagles...

Did the kid win any fans over today?

Re: Eli Manning shines in Over-time

He was sub-par for three quarters but picked it up in the fourth and in overtime. He led the Giants to an overtime victory and looked great in doing so. It's amazing that the defense was dogging it for three quarters too but picked it up towards the middle of the fourth.

Great come-back victory.

Wonder what Trashed thinks of Manning now lol

You got to love the kid...he is young...and showed poise...he also did not play totally bad in Media fish bowl that was the Manning vs Manning Game. I think he has a very, very bright future.

Re: Eli Manning shines in Over-time

He came through in the clutch, when he team needed him most. Don't think you can ask for more out of your starting quarterback than that. Those first three quarters are all forgiven and forgotten because the Giants came away with the 'W' and Eli played a big part in making that happen. Quarterbacking's more about leadership than stats anyway.

Not all new kids can make the big comeback...you got to see he is getting the leadership part of the role down...he is going to be great to watch.

Re: Eli Manning shines in Over-time

A tale of 2 QBs. First he is shaky and looks afraid of the Eagle D. And then he's making the tough throws. The final pass was perfect and off his back foot while a blitz was occuring. Still I counted 3 or 4 easy passes he should have made but I dont think Eli is going to be a stats QB like Peyton. I think hes gonna do what he has to do maybe make some mistakes (though they most likely will decrease with time) but in the end the Giants will win the game with him taking the snaps.

Re: Eli Manning shines in Over-time

well eli doesnt get random injuries like big ben thats a plus.Big Ben has the superbowl, and seems to command the game well. Eli still has alot more to prove to some of the doubters. I think eli will end up being a much qb then big ben but right now i dont think he is

o and it sucks for the guy who traded me toomer this week for lelie.

There was a lot of crazy stuff in that game such as that 15 yard penalty that basically helped them out immeasurably along with Tim Carter's fumble recovery TD. I hate to look at this fantastic Giant win with a glass half empty type attitude but he keeps missing those swing passes and that accuracy problem disturbs me. Perhaps if he doesnt improve on that there wont be many more miracle comebacks. They certainly cant win like this week after week. I dont know I just think Coughlin has this team in a mess and some lucky breaks and yes Eli and his recievers pulled him out. Props to Plax for chewing out the offensive lineman and getting in there face for sucking. You want guys who want to win yet not be Terrell Owens.

The point is...who cares if they win?...Bradshaw on the first two Steeler Super Bowl team was barely a 50% passer...but he won...anyone remember how may swing passes he missed those years?

Re: Eli Manning shines in Over-time

Well a id say 45% of the Giants are just playing poorly and stupidly. They seem to have to win despite Coughlin bein the coach. Arrington was good week 1 but today a non factor. I guess Eli is playing well, most likely even saved them this week...im just speculating on whether it will continue. I certainly hope so.

Okay, now you're getting silly.

I give him credit for the win but let's be objective about him:

1) He is still so inaccurate at times, it's scary. The amount of times he throws balls a mile behind receivers is mind boggling. If he doesn't get Shockey or a receiver killed reaching back for the ball, it will be a miracle. Even Burress' TD catch was a ball that was chucked up that Burress came down with because he is so good. So I guess what i'm saying is that Manning is not a pimple on Rothlisberger's fanny. And if he doesn't start getting more accurate, he never will be.

2) 373 yards is NOTa positive thing. The yards are that high because he had to throw the whole 2nd half.

3) Let's be honest, the Eagles fell asleep that game, joking around on the sidelines before the game was over. So let's not make Eli out to be John Elway just yet - although I'm sure you'll compare him to Elway next week.

Re: Eli Manning shines in Over-time

first this isnt eli's first late rally to win a game, denver last year. and he still threw fro close to 70 percent yesterday, so he missed a few swing passes, and if he hit those, and was at 50 percent youd say look at his percentage, i guess what im saying is we need to get our heads out of the stats and just let him play. he will be fine, he is fixing everything slowly just give him the year, and he will prove you wrong

Makes sense Merv. Just hope he can follow this up with another good performance.

Re: Eli Manning shines in Over-time

Eli usually does well in high-pressure situations (@ San Diego, late against Denver, late against Philly yesterday) but it's just a matter of when will it be too late? The Giants can't expect to completely dog it for three quarters and still win.
