Colston signs 3yr extension

Saints signed Marques Colston to a three-year contract extension through 2011. Terms have not been disclosed.
Saints owner Tom Benson was once miserly, but he's shelled out huge bucks recently to acquire and retain top talent. Colston often has minor injuries, but his first two years compare with any receiver in NFL history. Considering his age, system, and the presence of Drew Brees, Colston is a top-five dynasty wideout.

Marques Colston

About time. With Shockey on board and Colston locked up, this team looks to be in good shape for 2008.

Some people are calling the shockey deal the best thing the saints have ever done..locking up colston was a no brainer..put reggie bush and drew brees in the equation..do you think they are super bowl bound?

And don't forget the future Comeback Player of the Year, Deuce McAllister (man I wish I snagged him in the fantasy draft). Yeah, they have a shot.

It has been a question in the back of my mind if the Saints could regain what they had once before. Could they come back?
Right now I think they stand just as good a chance as anyone. It took them long enough to get this done with Colston though.

Re: Colston signs 3yr extension

I know they can do it IF AND ONLY IF the defense steps up.
This means: Sedrick Ellis drawing blockers away from Will Smith
Johnathon Vilma returing to his old 4-3 style form
and the rest of the secondary (mainly rookie Tracy Porter) stepping up and helping Mike McKenzie.

If that happens, then my Saints are Super Bowl bound!

They have to hope McCallister comes back healthy and productive. I don't think Bush can carry the load by himself.

Thats very true
Aaron Stecker is good, but he's aging
Now watch for Pierre Thomas
I think this will be a big season for him, judging by his performance near the end of last season.

I don't think the team's said. I'm sure we'll find out eventually, though.

Re: Colston signs 3yr extension

I'm very happy for Colston. He really desevred the contract extension. He has really made a mark in the NFL. Colston will be a very good player, possibly a great player with his consitancy. With Shockey their now he'll have a little less pressure from the DBs'.

Do not leave out David Patten & Robert Meachem. I do not think we were ever this loaded with quality players as this group. I just hope we can stay healthy this year.
