| Re: Saints' Injury woes Newly christened quarterback Drew Brees likely will throw for a limited basis just four months following arthroscopic surgery to mend a torn labrum. Starting running back Deuce McAllister probably will be forced to take it easy coming off a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Defensive end Will Smith missed the team's first mini-camp in April after having shoulder surgery.
The club already lost linebacker James Allen for the 2006 season to a knee injury during non-contact drills last week. And with Bush tweaking his hamstring stretching during his first workout at rookie mini-camp with his new team, keeping the players healthy for training camp will deem just as important as instilling new schemes and verbiage.
Brees, though, is ahead of his recovery schedule as he continues an off-season throwing regiment. Smith was sidelined in April so he would be ready for today's practices. Bush's hamstring injury was only a strain and was held out of the rookie camp drills as a precaution. That's three offensive stars and three injuries...Hopefully its not a bad karma thing...Also read somewhere that parts of New Orleans are sinking 5 times fasters than they orignally thought...so...throw that into the bad mojo pot. |
