| Re: Saints Harper hot commodity Harper was all class during his career in Tuscaloosa. He became a fan favorite as well as one of the most popular Alabama players among his teammates, coaches and the media. After just one mini-camp in New Orleans, Harper is becoming a favorite there as well, on and off the field.
"He's instinctive," Saints secondary coach Tom Hayes told the New Orleans Times-Picayune. "He's a guy that flies around the field and has a good range. And of course, when the pads go on, I think his stock goes up even farther because he likes getting in the mix. Contact is his game." Looks like this Kid Roman Harper is going to have a good shot to be part of the Saints secondary. A tad slow for the corner ...he is a safety all the way. I would worry about his lack of speed... Scouting Report Below: Pos: Instinctive defensive back with a good feel for coverage. Fluid backpedaling off the line, displays a quick break to the throw and takes good angles to the action. Slides off blocks, helps out in run support and wraps up tackling. Keeps the action in front of him and works well with cornerbacks. Solid ball skills. Neg: Possesses an average burst of closing and recovery speed. Lacks great range. Analysis: A prospect who understands the game, Harper is efficient and does a solid job with his responsibilities.
