What will Saints do with Deuce McAllister?

What are the Saints going to do with Deuce McAllister? He is due a $1 million roster bonus on April 15.
He is recovering from a torn ACL on his right knee suffered last season and received microfracture surgery on his left knee. Currently he is able to do light jogging and should be able to run full speed by April 1.

They have Reggie Bush who has vowed to concentrate more on football this season and veteran Aaron Stecker.
So, will Deuce stay or go?

No way they should cut Deuce. If last year proved anything, it's that the Saints NEED him to win. Period.

If the Saints are smart they will keep Deuce, Reggie Bush just can't be a feature back in the NFL.

I agree 100%. Deuce is the Saints REAL runningback, not the other guy who is just a special teams player, the guy that was touted as "the next Walter Payton."

Naw...love Deuce, but this is his second major injury...I am not sure how he will bounce back...I think you need to draft a back in rounds 3-7...I think the draft is deep enough.

Might not be a bad idea to have an insurance policy, but no third or fourth round back can replace what McAllister does for this team.

I have to go with Goth on this one, for all the reasons he said.

Unbelievable. The guy has a phenomenal 2006 season, gets hurt last year and now everyone wants to dump him. Well guess what? He'll be back and as good as ever this year. In fact, I'll go out on a limb and just hand him the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award right now. How about that?

You do that. And if I'm wrong, you're allowed to come back on me as harshly as I did to you last year for those Arizona Cardinal predictions.

Wait a minute, I was right. I said the Cardinals would turn it around. They went from 5-11 in 2006 and were 8-8 in 2007. I call that turning it around.

You wouldnt be yanking on my chain by chance, would you???

Re: What will Saints do with Deuce McAllister?

the saints must keep deuce if they wish to continue winning. their offense squandered last year because of the absence of a solid running back. defenses keyed on the passing game because the running game did nothing last year without mcallister. reggie bush is good for a highlight play about once every two games but he doesnt consistently pick up yards.

Re: What will Saints do with Deuce McAllister?

I say keep him as you main back, and maybe give a couple to Reggie until he shows some improvement.
