Bush vows to focus on football

Reggie Bush says he has matured has he goes into his third season and is going to focus more on football.
Instead of hearing the crowd chant B-U-S-T as he takes the field in the Super Dome, he wants to hear M-V-P.
To that end, instead of spending the offseason doing "Fre-Flo-Do" and doing numerous commercial spots, he will be spending the offseason training with his teammates.

This makes Coach Payton a lot happier too. There was a lot of criticism of Bush that he was thinking more about doing commercials than playing ball.
Think this will help him get more back on track to what was expected of him earlier in his career?

It better. Expectations are high for the young man, and he better start producing quickly if he wants to shake that 'bust' label.

He's a an excellent return man and third down back but no way is this guy some elite running back. Can he improve? I just don't see how this guy was called the next Walter Payton? Bush can't even be starting running back.

Can't really call him a 'bust now"...he had an excellent rookie year...and struggled last year when the team as a whole struggled...perhaps expectations are way to high for the man.

That's true but he wasnt exactly helping himself with the image he has been projecting. Football just wasnt his first priority.
Besides if coach wants you training with your teammates during offseason, best you train with your teammates. He was just starting in his career for crying out loud. I think he believed all the hype about himself and thought he was someone special.

Well if you are drafted so high you should at least be able to be the starting runningback on a team. Last year he did horrible. And yes he had an excellent rookie season catching the ball and as a return man. As an actually runner carrying the rock he stinks. 581 yds? C'mon! Talk about genius by the Texans for taking 14 sack Mario Williams with the #1 pick last year and skipping over Bust uh, I mean Bush!!
