Cool Saint's: Bush struggles in camp

Bush mania resumes with opening of Saints rookie camp

Bush mania resumes with opening of Saints rookie campBy BRETT MARTEL, AP Sports Writer
May 13, 2006

METAIRIE, La. (AP) -- The public wasn't invited, so curious Saints fans crouched down near the ground or balanced on their toes to peer through shrubs and a chain-link fence to get a first look at Reggie Bush wearing black and gold. What they saw during Saturday's opening of Saints rookie camp might have inspired more thoughts of voodoo curses than gridiron glory. Bush started limping early in the first practice session and missed several drills while working with a trainer in an attempt to loosen up a strained hamstring before rejoining practice.

He tightened up again during the afternoon session and spent much of the time watching practice with one knee on the field. But coach Sean Payton hardly seemed worried.
"He's been sitting in a limousine too long," Payton quipped, referring to the star treatment Bush has received since turning pro and racking up endorsement deals. "He's fine. These guys all, in his case certainly, are coming from schedules that may not have allowed them to stay in the same shape that they normally would be in-season. He'll be fine."

Gotta love the limo quip...anyone want to take a shot at what kind of numbers Bush will put up?...more than 1,000 all purpose yards?..less?...

1,000 all-purpose, including kickoffs and punt returns? Oh, he'll do that easy. I think he'll have 1,000-plus yards from scrimmage alone, mostly receiving I'd venture to guess. I see him as a real pass-catching threat in the flat.

I see him in a Warrick Dunn type role...so yes, about 1,000 yards from scrimmage...I don't see him returning though...too risky...

I think you've got to get him as many touches as possible, and with his explosiveness? Oh yeah, he's got to return kicks.

I think you get him different touches from scrimmage...10-12 carries ,5-10 catches etc...but I really don't see them letting their prize catch return kicks...you get him hurt that way, you have to answer for it....I think he would be great as a returner, don't get me wrong...I jsut don't see someone taking the risk...not at this stage....heck even someone like Tony Dorsett carried the ball barely 200 times his first year and didn't return kicks...Warrick Dunn same type of back...doesn't return kicks...only if he fails as a back will he return kicks (like Eric Bienemy)

I think hell have about 1200 yds from scrimmage but if I were the Saint coach I would spell him with McAllister a bunch so as not to run him into the ground. And if you have Bush returning kicks no matter how explosive he is or how good hed be at it youre gonna get him killed.
