Re: Saints Make Best Draft Pick Talk about being at the right place, at the right time. Like the mythological figure Tantalus, Superstar Running Back Reggie Bush seemed just out of reach for the New Orleans Saints in the 2006 NFL Draft. After bumbling into the second place in the draft by bumbling around on the field last season, the Saints organization had plenty of options though snagging last year’s Heisman winner did not appear one of them. Surely the team that somehow beat out the New Orleans franchise for the dishonor of being the worst in the NFL could not pass up the most exciting collegiate prospect in a decade? Well the Texans, to the utter chagrin of their fans, made the impossible possible with their signing of Defensive End Mario Williams. And all of those possible alternatives concerning the Saints’ draft pick went flying out the window, leaving on General Manager Mickey Loomis’s desk only one choice, unless he wanted to see the team’s office put to the torch by a mob of angry fans. No doubt about it...the Saints are happy ot have Reggie Bush aboard...and since they had Brees signed prior it was easy to pass on the big QBs...Anyone feel they made a mistake on this one?
