Cool McAllister gone for year

Quote:
ESPN reported Tuesday morning that the preliminary diagnosis on New Orleans Saints running back Deuce McAllister's injured left knee is a torn ACL that could end his season.

McAllister injured his knee during a 1-yard reception midway through the second quarter of the Saints' 31-14 loss to the Tennessee Titans and didn't return to the game.

According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, McAllister said when asked about the severity of his injury: "It's not good. I'll talk about it (Tuesday)."

This will mean an increased roll for Reggie Bush who has been far from stellar this year. Can he handle the increased workload or should fantasy owners run to the waiver wire for Aaron Stecker?

Re: McAllister gone for year

Bush can handle it... ...he got me two scores last night...but I hated losing Deuce...I had him on the GTG league...

Right now though, the no one can run behind that Saints line.

Re: McAllister gone for year

I don't think Bush has proven he's a 25-plus carry a game back yet. Definitely look for an increased role from Stecker.

I think Bush can handle 12-15 carries a game and catch another 6-7 passes...so yeah, I think he is in the 18-23 touches a game...more than that not too many backs can handle...look at backs with over 400 carries over the years...they never really get another good season...so at +20 touches you got Bush near +320 which is about right for him...250 carries and 60-70 catches...

Cool Re: McAllister gone for year

Skip Baylis on ESPN thinks Reggie Bush is the most overhyped player in the history of the NFL.

He might have a point. So far in his short career, he's only averaging 3.5 yards per carry.

He has more passing yards than Deuce, but if the line is so bad then why is Deuce avg. 3.8 yards per carry and Bush has only 2.8?

Because Deuce is more of a power back, and when you're running with power, sometimes you can create your own hole. Just pound into the line and force it forward. But when you're a speed and finesse runner like Bush, you're just not strong enough to create. The hole has to be there, at least for a second, so you can hit it and get into the secondary.

That proves my point. Bush cant handle the load. He has to use what's there and he cant make the most of it.

Re: McAllister gone for year

Bush is a incredible talent but he is not a between the tackles runner he needs a Deuce Mcallister or another power back on the roster because he can't run between the tackles
