The Saints could have upgraded their cornerback position on Thursday with the signing of free agent Jason David to an offer sheet.

David, 24, has started 43 regular season games for the Colts after being selected in the fourth round of the 2004 draft. David, a Canadian out of Washington State, has appeared in all 48 regular season games that the Colts have played since 2004, including the Colts' Super Bowl victory over the Bears. He is only 5-8 and weighs 180 pounds.

The Colts have until Friday to match the offer, or David goes to the Saints with a four-year deal. If David goes to the Saints, the Colts will receive the Saints' fourth-round draft choice in the upcoming draft. The Saints have three selections in the fourth round.
