One of the most well known players in franchise history was released earlier this afternoon. According to KFFL, the Saints will try to sign him, he'll be available on the open market however.

Saints released WR Joe Horn, although the team hopes to re-sign him.
This news was expected, but it's a new development that Horn and the Saints talked contract the last two days. One of the best free agent signings in NFL history and second all-time among Saints in yards and catches, Horn will probably look elsewhere to maximize his final payday. He can still be a quality role player."

What a shame... I just saw a bio for him the other day. He had to overcome a lot just to play in the NFL, and he really is the Saints' elder statesmen. Hope they do resign him, but I have a feeling he'll go elsewhere instead.

Yep...I don't like the wheeling and dealing of today's NFL...they say the players aren't loyal these days...but what about the teams?...

I agree totally. Loyalty needs to go both ways, and with a player like Horn, who has pretty much been the face of the Saints for the past, what, 6-8 years at least? Leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Sure would be nice if he stays with the Saints, but I can't blame him if he goes elsewhere.

I don't really like the move, but it makes football sense. The last 2 years he has been hurt a lot. They have other receivers that played as well as he did, and they are cheaper. Could he stay on the team if he was not the #1 passing option anymore? I think that job was taken over by Colston. I always liked Horn (he helped me win 2 fantasy championships), and hope he catches on with another team.
