Drew Brees Signs with Saints

you got to be kidding me drew brees over matt leinart who in their right mind would make this deal? why would brees want to go to such a terrible team. i do not think he is worth the 6 yr/60 million dollar deal with the 8 million up front what a joke

Re: Drew Brees Signs with Saints

I'm surprised too but it looks like the Saints think it's important to get up to speed quicker than you'd expect from a rookie QB. He's got a solid track record, he's known as a leader and that's apparently what Sean Payton wants.

Any guesses on what they do with their draft pick?

As opposed to the inconsistent Aaron Brooks?...or is this one of those deals where Miami should have signed him, and now that he is a Saint lets jump on the little guy...Hey made he just plays better in Gold and Black (from his Purdue days)...

Re: Drew Brees Signs with Saints

I have to beleive that both Drew Brees and Edgerin James are locks for the hall of fame, multiple super bowls, and more Disney ads than Tom Brady and Joe Montana combined.
Or maybe Arizona feels that for 30 million, the "edge" can help finish their stadium for them, and the Saints org. must feel that Brees can help clean flood damage or something. Because whatever their reasoning is for being in their new "towns", it certainly is not to win football games.

It seems pretty certain at this point that it'll be Mario Williams, DE, North Carolina State. Though I wouldn't be surprised to see Brees do a little campaigning for D'Brickashaw Ferguson, OT, Virginia.

Re: Drew Brees Signs with Saints

I'm guessing that New Orleans trades the pick, if they can. There has to be teams willing to jump up and get Lynert. I'm thinking the Jets maybe. If that were the case the Saints would likely still be able to pick either Mario Williams or Debrickashaw Fergueson.
