MIAMI — More than a week after their dream season ended, the postseason honors continue to roll in for the New Orleans Saints — symbolic of their successful 2006 campaign that ended one step short of the Super Bowl.
On Wednesday, coach Sean Payton was announced as the winner of the inaugural Motorola Coach of the Year award, while All-Pro quarterback Drew Brees was named the NFL FedEx Air Player of the Year.
Brees’ honor comes with a $25,000 donation from FedEx to Children’s Hospital of New Orleans. Both awards were voted on by the fans via the Internet and presented during Super Bowl festivities at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
