CBC News, Canada - 10 hours ago
NEW ORLEANS (AP) - There were nights when Sean Payton sat in his office on the second floor of the Saints' training headquarters and get the urge to run an idea by quarterback Drew Brees.

"I might call him on the cell phone trying to get him at home and he's one floor beneath me," Payton said. "He spends a lot of time in the office.

"He's here on the off days. He's here at night."

The New Orleans Saints reached Sunday's NFC championship game on the strength of the NFL's No. 1 offence, an attack devised by a crafty rookie coach and directed by his hand-picked quarterback.

Re: Why has the Saints offense been successful?

I think its more than just the fact that Payton and Brees work well together. Each is a remarkable talent on his own, plus you've got a healthy McAllister, the addition of Bush and the rookie receivers. Using the different formations, including Bush and Deuce in the same backfield, is ingenius, so some credit also has to go to the offensive coordinator and the rest of Payton's staff as well. I don't think you can finger one element that has made all the difference.

Cool Re: Why has the Saints offense been successful?

Good play calling and a ton of weapons:

Brees, MCallister, Bush and they have 3 or 4 receivers who are all good: Henderson, Horn, Colston, Copper etc..
