Cool Saints great story

Are the New Orleans Saints the greatest sports story ever?
Quote:
Maybe the late Herb Brooks, who led the United States hockey team to an improbable victory over the Soviet Union and a subsequent Gold Medal in the 1980 Olympics at Lake Placid, would have argued with that conclusion.

What does everyone think? If they win the Super Bowl, it will definitely be in the top 5 or 10.

Re: Saints great story

Best sports story of all time? Not sure about that. Like you say, if they win the Super Bowl, it'll be the kind of story Disney makes a sports movie about. The Miracle on Ice for me, right now, is #1. But adding up how bad the team was, the effects of Katrina, the fact that the Saints were basically nomads last year, and how the new coach, the free agent QB and the rookie joined forces with this down-and-out franchise to make this improbable playoff run possible, possibly culminating with a Super Bowl title? If you wrote that and pitched it as fiction, they'd tell you it was too sappy and unrealistic!

Re: Saints great story

Sorry to double post, but this got me thinking of some others... Jesse Owens in Nazi Germany, Lou Gehrig's farewell speech, Kerri Strugg's performance on, what was it, a broken ankle? I'm sure there are countless others as well. But a Saints Super Bowl win this year sure would be up there.
