NFC Divisional Playoff: Eagles vs. Saints

The New Orleans Saints will host their first playoff game since, well, seemingly our previous lifetime. The Philly Eagles may be the hottest team in the NFC with a solid offense and defense. Can the Saints light up enough offensive production to stop the Eagles?

How will Sean Payton coach in his first playoff game as head coach?

My prediction: Saints in a close game.

Saints vs. Eagles - NFC Divisional Playoff

Two of the league's best Cinderella stories meet next Sunday as the New Orleans Saints host the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Divisional Playoffs. Can Jeff Garcia continue leading his new team on an improbable playoff run, or will Drew Brees, Reggie Bush and company just be too much for Philly to handle? So many interesting stories here. Like Empire, I think the Saints win a close one here. I'll sure be rooting for them!

Re: NFC Divisional Playoff: Eagles vs. Saints

Eagles should have been beaten by three touchdowns by inept Giants offense. Saints have had two weeks to prepare and add all sorts of gimmicks for Philly defense to ponder. Philly cannot play catch-up, which they will have to do to stay in this one. Saints by 17.

New Orleans Saints prepare for Garcia as they did for McNabb
CBC News, Canada - 10 hours ago
NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Sure, Jeff Garcia is no Donovan McNabb.

Yet New Orleans coach Sean Payton is no less fearful of all the ways the Philadelphia Eagles' resurgent quarterback could cause havoc for the Saints' defence. "I saw it firsthand," Payton said Wednesday, thinking back to when he was an assistant coach with the New York Giants during the 2002 season.

The Giants were in the playoffs, facing the San Francisco 49ers in a wild-card game. New York had a whopping 24-point lead. Then Garcia got on an unforgettable roll as the Niners scored 25 unanswered points to take a late 39-38 lead, which stood up when the Giants botched a potential game-winning field goal.

The Saints will win. We beat the Eagles when they had McNabb, and we'll beat again even with Garcia.

Cool Re: NFC Divisional Playoff: Eagles vs. Saints

Ex-NO QB, Hebert chimes in:
Quote:
Former Saints quarterback and current radio analyst Bobby Hebert says," If the Saints don't turn the ball over, they're going to win the game. If they contain Westbrook, they can win big." Hebert points to the Saints' effectiveness in containing Tiki Barber on Christmas Eve as evidence.

I agree with Hebert. I think the Saints win big today.

Re: NFC Divisional Playoff: Eagles vs. Saints

Crazy end to the first half. First, the Westbrook TD run. Then... I blinked; was that a fake punt the Saints ran? And they almost scored on the hail mary at the end. Colston just about had it. Who was the Eagle DB who was hurt on that play? I couldn't tell.

Yeah? Tell that to Brian Westbrook, who just went 62 yards for his second TD of the game. Wow, what a run!

Westbrook looks amazing when he's in the open field.

Re: NFC Divisional Playoff: Eagles vs. Saints

Wow, Bush fumbles the ball and the Eagles have it with 3 minutes left, down by three.

that rookie just about gave the game away eh ?

well it's over and congrats to the Saints........i couldnt be happier for them

but i hope no Philly fans try and blame Jeff Garcia........he was 15/30 for 240 yards 1 td 0 int ...............he deserves no blame for this loss......that should go to the Eagles defense........cant give up 27 points in the playoffs and hope to win

question now is........do the Saints get another home game ?

i think they do
