Re: Saints not made for Monday night...

They never won until their 14th season

Game plan
Who: Atlanta (2-0) at New Orleans (2-0)
When: Monday, 7:30 p.m.
Where: Louisiana Superdome
Radio: WWL-870 AM
TV: ESPN

Playing games under the bright lights and blinking marquee of Monday Night Football has been about as kind as playing on any other day of the week for the New Orleans Saints throughout the team's history.
The Saints have a 6-15 overall record on the first day of the work week. For anyone keeping score, that's the third worst mark of any team in NFL history.
The last time the Saints won a Monday night game was the same month Bill Clinton was elected president of the United States - for his first term. The Saints knocked off the Washington Redskins that evening in 1992.
It took the Saints 14 years to even win their first Monday night game.

Wow...this team is just not cut out for Monday night...and Atlanta is no push over...is the emtional homecoming enough to carry them this time?

Probably not, unfortunately. It would be great for the team and the city if the Saints were able to re-open the Superdome with a win, but it will take a superhuman effort on defense and some divine intervention for it to happen.

The Falcons have been way too dominant in the first two weeks of the season. Their run game has been outstanding. Can New Orleans' defense stop them? We'll find out. Watching Brees, McCalister, Horn and Bush on the national stage should be fun.

If I hear either of those damn announcers say what a big day this is for the city of New Orleans one more time, I think I am going to kill someone. Give it a rest already!!

Looks like the Saints are giving them a game ...Halftime and they are up 20-3...and reggie Bush is looking good. I think he's getting me the 7 points I need in the GTG league.

Vick on the other hand...not so hot...Move over Ben, Eli and Daunte...

Re: Saints not made for Monday night...

I agree Aggie but you gotta accept it was going to happen all night long.

But boy have the Saints looked good. They can't keep this up all season but they sure have done well early on. The Falcons may have gotten caught up in the emotions leading up to the game.

Re: Saints not made for Monday night...

I really didn't expect this from the Saints. Atlanta just can't get anything going. Vick's not looked good all game.

Cool Re: Saints not made for Monday night...

Home team dogs on Monday night have a great record not only in covering the spread but also in winning the game ourtright. I'm not shocked that the Saints won last night. (And my pick in our pool will prove that out). But in my suicide pool, I'm taking Carolina this week. The Saints are definitely improved and they've been a nice story but no way they go into Carolina and win this game.

yeah but no one would have said it be 23-3...that was a one sided game...Vick and the Falcon ground game never got it going at all. The block punt and FG didn't help either.

Re: Saints not made for Monday night...

That blocked punt play was amazing. I flicked on the TV and I thought that the first drive would be my last one before I went over some contract proposals. I was almost shutting off the TV on the punt when the guy crashed down the middle and stuck his finger in the mess.

WOW!
