| Chris Paul Honors 8-Year-Old Cancer Victim ![]() Chris Paul wrote the name "Brian" on his shoes last night, a small gesture to honor the memory of an eight-year-old fan who died from a brain tumor earlier this week before he had a chance to see Paul play. The Make-A-Wish Foundation had arranged for Brian to see his favorite player take on the Spurs on Monday, but Brian was hospitalized with a high fever the day of the game and died later that evening. As he requested, Brian will be buried wearing his Paul jersey. Hornets owner George Shinn, who said he cried when he heard the story, contacted the family and offered to help pay for funeral expenses, but the family respectfully declined. Even though it's a small gesture, Paul wanted to honor Brian in Thursday's game. From USA TODAY: According to a New Orleans Times-Picayune story, "Brian told his family that he knew he was going to heaven and that he wanted to meet Jesus wearing his Chris Paul jersey." [...] "I was speechless," Paul said before Game 3 Thursday night. "Even now, it's something that words can't describe. This is probably one of the most humbling experiences of my life. | Re: Chris Paul Honors 8-Year-Old Cancer Victim I read a story once about a kid that was dying that wanted to meet a Detroit Tiger. All the Tigers were too busy except for one. He met the kid and even bought him a Tigers jacket that he autographed. The kid was buried in that jacket a week later. The player was Jack Morris, who should be in the Hall of Fame. Chris Paul sounds like a good kid too.
