According to some reports, the proposed deal that would send Jason Kidd to Dallas may still have life after all. Although Devean George won't be involved, it's possible Dallas can add Keith Van Horn to the deal.

Van Horn retired but never filed league papers so Dallas can sign him to a deal that would fit the trade and send him along.

What would the point be? He probably wouldn't play for Jersey anyway, so why even bother adding him to the deal?

So they can pull the trade off. Both teams want it, right now they just can't match up the contracts.

I guess I must be a little ignorant of NBA trading policy. So the dollar values of the deals have to match (or at least come close), even if one of the participants is clearly just dead weight? Odd.

I think it has to do with cap space and expiring contracts. They have to make room to take on Kidd's salary, and Jersey probably wants money next season to sign free agents.

It appears that not every body on Dallas wants him there if the deal keeps getting screwed up....just send him to the Cavs.

This is one of the things that is terrible out the NBA - You don't trade players - you trade contracts.
