Carter Agrees To 61.8 Mil Contract

Vince Carter apparently is keeping Vinsanity in New Jersey. The Newark Star Ledger is reporting that Carter, who opted out of the final year of his contract which called for a $16.3 million salary next season, has agreed to a four-year, $61.8 million contract with the Nets. The contract with the team holds an option for a fifth year.
The deal will not be official until July 11 when free-agent deals can be signed.

I am stunned. I thought for sure he'd be Miami-bound. But I guess money talks, and for whatever reason, the Nets were desperate to keep him.

I am suprised, too. Especially because Rod Thorn is so astute. Didn't he see enough failure in the playoffs from Carter? I guess not.

He brings in a lot of fans. I bet that is why he was desperate to sign him. They still need a big guy to help out. Will they have enough money to still try and get O'Neal.

Actually, the Nets were one of the lowest drawing as a % of capacity. They were 24th of 30, only filling 85% of the building....And trust me, that's tickets sold...Most night that place was empty.
