Brodeur gets to 500 wins

tough season to slog it there for the usually perfect goalie, but he finally got there. Him and Roy.
So Roy has a record 551 wins, and brodeur is still playing. he could surpass the Great One in Net in wins now.
It was a 6-2 win over the Flyers and Biron was pulled after the second - then Niittymaki let in the first (and only) two shots of the third.
Brodeur has won 30-plus games in 11 straight seasons, 40 in each of the last two and he set an NHL record with 48 wins last season.

Best goalie of all-time? Top 5, or top10?

Re: Brodeur gets to 500 wins

I'm waiting for a leaf fan to kick me in the pants for not saying Johnny The China Wall Bower, he of 552 games played, 250 wins, 195 losses, 90 ties, 37 shutouts, a 2.51 GAA. and still the AHL career shutout leader.

just think Roy was/is King.
Brodeur is almost perfect.
And Dryden is so individual and unlike any other goalie and all that he achieved with the Habs - wow.

Yeah, I was always partial to Dryden, even when he was picking on the Bruins all those years.

I don't watch Hockey. How does this record rate too other sports. Is it like Cy Young's win record. is it as revered?

It makes him the second winningest goalie in NHL history, behind only Patrick Roy.

Re: Brodeur gets to 500 wins

I suppose the Cy Young equivalent would be the Vezina, which brodeur has won 3 times.
incidentally, Roy won it three times too and only with the habs, not the Avs.
Dryden won it five times.
Bower won it twice.
Hasek's won it 6 times.

I think he was meaning like the 'ungodly" amount of wins Cy Young had in his career. I really think Cy Young is in his own universe...I think since 35-40 wins probably equals 20-25 wins in baseball...you would need a lot more hockey wins to compare.
