Brodeur ties wins record

According to the Associated Press, "Martin Brodeur tied Bernie Parent's single-season record for wins and the New Jersey Devils moved within a point of winning the Atlantic Division title... Brodeur got his 47th win and tied Parent's record set in 1973-74 by making 22 saves in regulation and then stopping four of six attempts in a shootout in a 2-1 win over the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night."

That's an old record...Parent has been in the books for a while...Will Brodeur have anything left for the Playoffs...

oh yeah. he's a horse. I don't think he knows how to play any other way.
it's whether GM Lou Lam will make the right choices, now.

Yeah, he definitely will. If Lamariello thinks he's getting tired, he'll give him a blow in one of the last 2 games. Hopefully the last one against the Islanders

Rangers clinch playoff spot; Brodeur, Devils set wins records

Martin Brodeur got his 48th victory to break Bernie Parent's single-season record as the New Jersey Devils won the Atlantic Division title and set a franchise mark for wins... Brodeur stopped 34 shots, including a breakaway in the second, in the Devils' 3-2 win at Philadelphia to break the 33-year-old record in the city where Parent led the Broad Street Bullies to two Stanley Cup championships.

Well, Brodeur owns the record. Interesting debate I heard the other day, though... should there be an asterisk beside it? After all, Parent didn't play during the era of the shootout, where there are no ties.

Naw, do we strip Gretazky off his records cause he played at a time when hockey was a wide open offensive game?...Do we penalize him cause the Rocket Richard played a 50 game schedule?

Yeah, they usually mention it when they are talking about it, anyway - about how some of the guys in the top ten only had so many games they could play a year that couldn't possibly match the number of games they can play now. an asterisk makes it seem somehow compromised.
Brodeur's one of the greats.

And Parent had the backing of an All-time great team...so I think Brodeur's wins are more him than Parent's were...
