Ken Daneyko's jersey retired EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- The New Jersey Devils will retire former defenseman Ken Daneyko's No. 3 jersey Friday night before their game against the Bruins.
Daneyko, who will turn 42 next month, played 20 seasons and 1,283 games with the Devils, retiring at the end of the 2003 season. He spent his entire career with New Jersey, finishing with 36 goals, 142 assists and more than 2,500 penalty minutes. Okay, so we are now retiring jersey's of players that average less than 10 points a season?...am I wrong here?...Is this worthy of a retirement?...I mean 20 seasons 1,283 games and all...are we just honoring a long career instead of a stellar one? |
