New Jersey Carolina NHL Game

Martin Brodeur kept stopping the defending Stanley Cup champions and kept the New Jersey Devils in the hunt for the top spot in the Eastern Conference... Brodeur stopped 38 shots, and Erik Rasmussen and Zach Parise scored third-period goals in New Jersey's 3-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday night.

Rasmussen and Parise score third-period goals to lead Devils over 'Canes 3-2

Re: New Jersey Carolina NHL Game

Interesting note re Devils - they were forced twice this week to play with fewer than 18 skaters.
Janssen is suspended plus salary cap - they had no room to call up replacements for him and Gionta, Elias and Madden, all injured.
Um, they still beat Pittsburgh and Buffalo though.
Gionta is now on longterm injured list. what a waste of $$$ on him. But because of that, they can now call up replacements.

Re: New Jersey Carolina NHL Game

So it's 7-2 for the 'Canes in the 3rd and from what i can tell, they pulled brodeur in the 2nd and put in Clemmensen.
Is that a first?
The Devils are missing Elias and Madden, but the Canes are missing hedican, Ward, Babchuk and more.

I am just flabbergasted that Brodeur gave up 7 goals. Wow. Career worst for him?

Re: New Jersey Carolina NHL Game

he gave up 4 goals on the first 12 shots, and was pulled.
it says on nhl.com this was the second time this season that brodeur was taken from net.
happens to the best, apparently. Clemmensen faced18 shots, let in 3 more, didn't have such a great game either - just better than Brodeur (now he can say that at least, eh?).

Yeah, I guess even the best have bad days. Can't remember ever seeing too many out of Brodeur, though.
